DIY Fringe Shoes

I purchased these shoes some years ago from Top Shop . After having them for a year (only wearing them once) I decided that I liked them but they were missing something. Instead of getting rid of them I held on to them in storage. Fast forward to last week I figured out what I wanted to do with them. So I decided to go step by step and share the details of how I created this look for anyone interested in updating a shoe in their closet. I really enjoyed updating these shoes and look forward to sharing more DIY projects to update your closet and home!
View pictures below for quick step directions

Things you'll need:
1. Shoes
2. 4 inch Fringe Trim (2-3 yards)
3. Glue & Glue Gun
4. Chalk or some other marking tool
5. Scissors
6. Decorative Trim (1/3-1/2 inch thickness and 1 yard in length)
  • mark the back of shoe to create a guide for fringe trim. I created 3 layers (but depending on the thickness of your heel you may need more or less layers)
  • measure each guideline on both shoes and this will be the exact amount of fringe trim you'll need. (I suggest purchasing an extra yard for back up)
  • add fringe trim using glue gun, following the guidelines...... starting from the inside and working your way out.
  • cut/trim off fringe that extends heel length. fringe should hit the base of shoe.
  • to give it a clean look apply a finishing trim of your choice on top of the top layer of fringe using the glue gun. this will give your shoes a finished look and help to hide any glue residue from the glue.

Note: Please add enough glue for your trim to stick but be careful not to overdue it.

Much Love XOXO,
